Dr Fred Okeng’o Matiang’i is the Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology Government of Kenya.
He is the immediate former Cabinet Secretary in the Ministry of ICT. has prior experience from the Centre for International Development, Rockefeller College of Public Affairs and Policy, the State University of New York SUNY/CID as the Eastern Africa regional Representative and formerly served as Chief of Party for Kenya’s Parliamentary Strengthening Program.
Dr. Matiangi held research and program implementation positions in various civil society organizations in Kenya and conducted research and training for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association, the Inter-Parliamentary Union, The
parliaments of Ethiopia, Uganda, and the East African Legislative Assembly. He has also been a columnist for the Daily Nation, Kenya’s leading newspaper, and has consulted extensively with USAID, the United Nations Development Programme, the Canadian Development Agency (CIDA), the World Bank, and Transparency International. He’s also taught at Egerton University and the University of Nairobi.
Dr. Matiangi has a Ph.D. in Communication and Comparative Literature, an M.A. in English (both University of Nairobi) and a B.A. in Education (Kenyatta University).
