Mr. Julius Korir is the Principal Secretary, State Department of Industry & Enterprise Development, Ministry of Industry, Investment and Trade He’s a Senior Manager in the field of international business development with extensive experience in export marketing, promotion and market research. Also in investment promotion, programme development and project management.
He has prior experience from the Ministry of Industrialization and Enterprise Development, Kenya, Export Promotion Council of Kenya; Kenya Investment Authority; Agricultural Development Corporation
As the Industrialization Secretary, Mr. Korir was instrumental in coordinating the Government initiatives under the Ease of Doing Business Reforms where Kenya improved tremendously, in the World Bank Ease of Doing Business 2016 report and played a central role in the development of Kenya’s Industrial Transformation Program (KITP), Kenya’s current Industrialization Blueprint for the next 10 years.
Previously, he served in the Export Promotion Council for over 15 years in various positions he served as the Acting Managing Director for the Kenya Investment Authority (KenInvest). He is a holder of an MBA in International Business and a BSc. in Agricultural Economics. Mr. Korir is currently pursuing a PHD Degree in Development Studies at Nairobi University.
He has wide experience in implementing best practice in export trade promotion and market linkages strategies; managing Public/Private Partnership (PPP) initiatives to bring together public and private sector stakeholders and he has been spearheading strategies and initiatives of “making markets work for the poor”.
